Engineering
Our engineering teams work closely with other parts of the business to ensure we build quality, scalable and high performing software solutions.
Founded in 2016 as Power Lines Pro, our platform delivers a true digital twin, performing complex engineering-grade analysis automatically and at a whole-of-network scale. We are a high-growth utility SaaS company backed by some of the best investors in Australia, including Square Peg Capital and Skip Capital.
Neara’s mission is to empower organizations by bringing them closer to their assets, environment, and business through intelligent software solutions.
We are looking to build a talented, passionate, and diverse team, where everyone has ownership of our mission and a role to play in our growth.

Our engineering teams work closely with other parts of the business to ensure we build quality, scalable and high performing software solutions.
Our product team works closely with our customers and users to ensure that we’re delivering world-class solutions that genuinely and deeply solve their critical infrastructure problems - and that they are intuitive and easy to use.
Our sales team are responsible for reaching out to and showcasing our software solutions to prospective customers and in ensuring that we help them get the best out of our solutions.
Our strategy and operations teams are responsible for ensuring that we are proactively achieving our business and strategic objectives as well as providing the rest of the business with the processes, systems and support they need to be successful.
Our hiring process is underpinned by our values. We like to take an honest, open and practical approach to how we hire. This includes meeting several people from our business and will often include the completion of a practical skills assessment as part of the hiring process. Below is a breakdown of what to expect.
We strive to respond to all applications within 7 to 10 days of receiving them. For successful applications we will reach out to you to book in an initial phone interview. For unsuccessful applications, we will always contact you via email to let you know the outcome of your application.
The phone screen will be an opportunity for us to explain the role and our business to you as well as find out more about you, your motivations and what you can bring to the role. We want to make sure it’s a mutual fit – so please don’t hesitate to ask us any questions you may have.
After the phone interview, you will typically meet with a manager or other key members of our team to discuss the role and your experience in more detail. Sometimes this can include more than one person in the interview but we will always let you know what to expect in advance.
Our skills assessments come in many different forms and are customised to suit the role and skills we’re trying to assess. It could include a coding task, role play, presentation or some other practical way of assessing your capabilities in line with the requirements of the role.
If you’re our preferred candidate, we will usually make a verbal offer in conjunction with completing references where appropriate. Once this is complete we will then send you a formal offer in writing and begin your onboarding process.
We have cultivated a feedback culture at Neara and we value open communication. We will provide you with constructive feedback after your interviews if you are open to receiving it and we welcome any feedback you have throughout the process. Additionally, please don’t hesitate to ask any questions you have at any time and you’re always welcome to contact our Head of Talent by sending an email to kara@neara.com.
